Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 30th October 2026
These terms apply when you use mincepiemarathon.co.uk (the "Site") and when you order mince pies or make a donation through it. Please read them before you order. By placing an order or donation you agree to them. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
About us
The Mince Pie Marathon is run by Brightbulb Ltd ("Brightbulb", "we", "us" or "our"), Bower Villa, Alverstone Road, Sandown, Isle of Wight, PO36 0NZ. Brightbulb Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 09004448.
You can contact us by email at hello@brightbulbdesign.co.uk or by post at the address above.
The fundraiser
The Mince Pie Marathon raises money for The Wight Brainy Bunch, a registered charity in England and Wales (charity number 1177562). Brightbulb organises the event, runs the Site and delivers the mince pies on the charity's behalf. When you pay, your money goes directly to The Wight Brainy Bunch through its Stripe account, and the charity's name may appear on your bank or card statement. Brightbulb is responsible for your order and its delivery.
Where your money goes. The full amount you pay, for an order or a donation, is paid to The Wight Brainy Bunch. Brightbulb does not receive or handle any of it. Stripe deducts its standard card processing fee before the charity receives the payment.
Because you receive mince pies in return, payments for orders are purchases, not donations, so Gift Aid cannot be claimed on them. We do not collect Gift Aid declarations for donations made through the Site.
Ordering
- You must be 18 or over to place an order.
- We only deliver on the Isle of Wight. Orders close at midnight at the end of Fri 4th December, or earlier if we sell out, and we deliver on Wed 9th December 2026.
- To order, choose how many boxes you want and where they are going, enter your details, check your order and pay. You can correct any mistakes before you pay.
- Our contract with you starts when your payment succeeds and we send you a confirmation email. We may refuse or cancel an order before then, for example if we have sold out, the address is not on the Isle of Wight, or there is an obvious error in the price. If we cancel an order after you have paid, we will refund you in full.
- If you give us someone else's name and address for a delivery, you confirm that you are happy to share their details with us for that purpose.
- These terms and your order are in English.
Prices and payment
Mince pies cost £6 per box of 6. The price includes delivery to an Isle of Wight address and any VAT that applies. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout.
You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe, into The Wight Brainy Bunch's account. If you would rather pay by bank transfer (BACS), email matt@brightbulbdesign.co.uk before ordering. Orders paid by BACS are confirmed once the money reaches us.
Allergens and ingredients
Our mince pies typically contain wheat (gluten), milk and sulphites, and may contain nuts. We'll publish our supplier's full allergen list here once they are confirmed. Every box carries the supplier's full ingredients and allergen label. Gluten free pies can be requested.
Our mince pies are made in kitchens that handle allergens, including nuts and gluten, so we cannot guarantee that any mince pie is free from allergens or nuts. If you need gluten free mince pies, you must say so in the order notes when you order.
For full ingredients and allergen information, or if you have any concerns about the ingredients, email hello@brightbulbdesign.co.uk before you order. If you are buying for someone else, please pass this on to them.
Delivery
Our volunteers deliver every order on Wed 9th December 2026. We cannot offer a delivery time. If nobody is in, we may leave the pies in a safe place or with a neighbour, so please add any instructions to your order notes. The pies are your responsibility once they have been delivered.
If something outside our control, such as severe weather, stops us delivering on the day, we will tell you and deliver as soon as we reasonably can. If we cannot deliver at all, we will refund you.
Cancellations and refunds
Mince pies are perishable, so the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply once they have been delivered. You can still cancel an order for a full refund by emailing us before midnight at the end of Fri 4th December.
Donations, including donation-only orders, go straight to the charity and are not normally refundable. If you made a donation by mistake, email us as soon as possible and we will do our best to help.
We refund to the payment method you used, within 14 days of agreeing the refund.
If something goes wrong
If your order is missing, damaged or not as described, please email us within 7 days of the delivery date with your order reference and we will put it right with a replacement, if possible, or a refund. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 still apply. Advice about your legal rights is available from Citizens Advice.
The leaderboard and map
If you choose, your name, or your company name if you give one, is shown on the public leaderboard, and your deliveries are shown on the public map near (not at) each address. Both are off unless you switch them on. Please do not use a company name that is offensive or that you are not entitled to use. We may change or remove any name we think is unsuitable. Our Privacy Policy explains what is shown and how to remove it.
Using the Site
You may use the Site for your own personal use. You must not misuse it, for example by trying to get unauthorised access, introducing viruses, or placing orders in someone else's name without their permission.
The content of the Site, including our logo, text, photos and design, belongs to us or the people who have licensed it to us. You must not copy it for commercial use without our permission.
We try to keep the Site available and accurate, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or error-free. The Site links to other websites, which we do not control and are not responsible for.
Our responsibility to you
If we break these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, and we are not liable for business losses. Our total liability to you for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your order are the ones on the Site when you placed it.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your personal information.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you have a complaint, please contact us first so we can try to sort it out. If we cannot, you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
